Activity at Soufrière Hills Volcano has remained low this week. The seismic network recorded 5 rockfalls, 1 long period and 18 hybrid earthquakes.
Sulphur dioxide flux measurements were low (>200 t/d) at the beginning of the period increasing to around 350 t/d after a minor ash venting event which occurred at around 15:40 (local time) on 9 January. This was followed by a slight reduction to 240 t/d on 11 January, increasing to 590 t/d on 12 January. No data are available for the remainder of the period due to instrumentation problems.
Residents of Montserrat and visitors to the island are advised to tune into ZJB Radio for up-to-date information on the volcano.
