Observations on 04 August confirmed that dome growth has continued. The appearance of the dome has become more symmetric with the loss of the prominent spines that previously crowned the dome. Dome growth currently appears to be focused in an easterly direction. A small pyroclastic flow on Wednesday 02 August generated light ash-fall in the north of the island.

The seismic network recorded 2 volcano-tectonic earthquakes, 166 rockfall signals, 67 long period rockfall signals and 162 long period earthquakes during the reporting period.

Average sulphur dioxide flux for the reporting period was estimated at 120 tonnes/day, varying between 50 tonnes/day on 30 July and 210 tonnes/day on 03 August.

The alert level remains at 3.
